Summer Reading Programs:
While there are lots of Summer Reading Programs all throughout the city, here are few that I recommend.
Harris County Public Library's Summer Reading Program is for all ages. You can sign up and log books online at any time from now until August 6th. Each program (Babies, Kids, Teens, and Adults) has a reading/activity requirement. Once completed, you get a freebie! There are also tons of FREE activities for everyone. I myself am looking forward to seeing Toro (Texans Mascot) at my local branch. For more information on events and/or the summer reading program, contact your local library.
Barnes & Noble also has a summer reading program for kids, Grades 1-6. Kids read about 4 separate subjects and write about it in a journal provided by Barnes & Noble. Once completed, kids have until September to submit the journal at your local Barnes & Noble and claim a free book (journal provides a list of qualified freebies).
Other noteworthy reading events:
Over at the Fish Gallery showroom, kids can gather once a week for a FREE fun filled afternoon of activities. There are storytimes, crafting, coloring, and even a chance to hang out with some fish up close! Be sure to check out their blog for more info regarding dates and times.
Wednesdays at 4pm over at the Nature Discovery Center is Nature Story Time! Kids are welcome to come and enjoy a story, followed by a fun craft or nature walk. There may even be a live demonstation as well! And yes, this is FREE!
Movies and More!

Santikos Theatres offer several free movie showings throughout the summer. Tickets are handed out on a first come, first serve basis so make sure to get their early! For more info regarding movie showings, times, and locations, visit their website.
For those living in the outskirts of Houston, there are some fun events in your local Town Centers. Check out Sugarland Town Square for Movies Under the Moon, and Kindermusik events. Summer Movie Nights are a must at Pearland Town Center.
Be on the lookout for more Summer Fun blog posts and if there's something I've missed, do tell me! I'd love to get as much info out to you as possible!
